Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action revolver, Japanese Naval contract marked, .44 cal., 6-1/2” barrel, blue finish, checkered wood grips, #25927. This gun is in overall fine condition showing approx. 40% originalblue with balance gone to a plum brown patina, good bore, crisp action, sharp markings, all matching except cylinder which is numbered “32729” however the condition matches the rest of the gun and likely wasswitched during routine cleaning or maintenance by Japanese military personnel who weren’t concerned with collector interest 100 + years after the gun’s use; grips are worn but in overall very good conditionshowing a couple of old mars from carry and storage; anchor marking on the bottom of the frame. The Japanese contract for this model was for approx. 1,500 guns and this is one of the better condition ones we have seen insome time. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
