Smith & Wesson New Model 3 Single Action Revolver
Improved design of the original Model 3, Smith & Wesson's first top break, automatic ejection revolver produced from 1878 to 1912. Top of barrel rib is marked with the two line address and patent dates: "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D JAN 17 & 24. 65. JULY 14. 65. / AUG 24. 69. APR 20. 75 FEB 20. & DEC 18. 1877 REISSUE JULY 25. 1871." This model features blade front and notched rear sights. Six shot fluted cylinder with automatic ejector. Casehardened trigger guard, trigger and hammer, with remaining surfaces nickel. Matching serial number on the frame, cylinder and barrel latch. Fitted with checkered S&W monogram embossed grips.

Condition: Very good. The revolver retains strong amounts of original nickel finish on the barrel (near the muzzle) and scattered traces of nickel overall with the balance a mottled brown patina. The grips are very good with a scuff mark on the bottom of the left panel and a repaired chip on the right panel, along with some minor handling marks and some wear in the checkering.
