Smith & Wesson New Model #3 Frontier Single Action revolver, scroll engraved, back strap inscribed “Maj. Gordon Lillie “Pawnee Bill”, 44-40 cal., 6-1/2” barrel, checkered hard rubber black grips, #1147. This gun is accompanied with a leather double loop holster and tooled leather cartridge belt in overall fair + to good worn condition with the holster trimmed in sewn leather thong edging. The gun itself is in original good to very good condition with approx. 40% thinning nickel, some scattered surface erosion and pinprick pitting; sharp markings, good action, bore and grips. Factory letter indicates this gun was shipped on August 31, 1895 to E.K. Tryon Co., Philadelphia, PA with barrel length, finish and grips confirmed. Documentation includes a 1936 dated letter to Mr. Morgan Chaney, St. Angelo, Texas from Bob “Breezy” Cox stating that when Mr. Cox was a young boy, he worked as a stable hand for Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill and that in 1925-30, he worked for Pawnee Bill in his show but when the Depression hit, he was let go and given this gun by Pawnee Bill who told him it was a gift originally from Buffalo Bill. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries.
