One of approximately 250-300 manufactured circa1880’s on contract order for the Australian Colonial Police. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates and the matching serial number is marked on the butt, rear face of the cylinder, barrel latch and barrel. Pinned blade front and notch rear sights, nickel finish with casehardened hammer and trigger guard, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with "S&W" logo at the top. The revolver is cut for a shoulder stock and comes with an original proof-marked, (mis-matched serial number, 13048) shoulder stock and original shoulder stock leather case. The stock is walnut with nickel plated attaching iron, with a checkered hard rubber S&W buttplate. The case is brown leather with two strap cutouts on the lower right side, iron ring attached to the back and marked with the rack number "179 and a “broad arrow" proof mark. A rare and all matching number (except stock) Australian Model S&W.

Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 30-40% of the original nickel finish with the balance showing evidence of having been cleaned leaving those areas blended bright. The hammer retains 90% original bright case colors and the trigger guard has a smooth silver gray, with strong bright original case colors in the protected areas. The grips are also fine with a couple minor scuffs on the lower edges and slightly worn checkering. The markings are clear. The action is very fine. The stock is very good with a few minor dings and scratches on the wood and 75% plus original nickel finish on the hardware. The pouch is good, the back shows normal cracking and flaking of the leather, there are a few scuffs, scratches and flex wear on the front, and the stitching remains tight.
