Smith & Wesson New Model #3, .44 S&W caliber single action revolver, 5” barrel, scroll and leaf engraved, nickel plated, ivory grips, serial #29970. The barrel address is centered and is of a shorter than standard lengthindicating original barrel length. The revolver shows an old replated finish, of which 95% remains. The engraving, though slightly crude, is antique is of the Western Saddle-shop style. The backstrap is engraved“Texas” which matches the motifs. The pistol is fitted with old period ivory grips that are aged and slightly undersized from shrinking. The action is good, the bore is good with a few areas of erosion but stillshiny. Factory letter states #29970 was shipped November 29th 1898 and was delivered to Mr. A. Clifford, address unknown with no other information. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
