The lot features a double action top break over six shot revolver in a .44-40 caliber. The revolver is attributed to being a Smith & Wesson New Model 3 Frontier Target in .44-40 caliber. The revolver shows a very early age of circa 1870-1890's. The revolver shows excellent hand engravings across the entire piece and was used as the High Cowboy Shooter Evans Ranch 2008 Trophy. The piece comes in a custom wood box as displayed. This is marked on the frame under the grips, "40" and above the cylinder on the top break latch, "40". Bottom of frame is marked, "433" or "7433". Top of barrel rib is worn, but is marked illegibly, "RE ISO". The revolver has a 6" barrel and short frame grip, rare. Hammer and trigger appear to function, but poorly. The custom box is 15"x11" and 3.5"H. Review pictures for firearm manufacture, condition, and description correctness. NO FFL.
