Manufactured from 1857 to 1860, this 6th Type revolver features a brass blade front and notch rear sights, blue barrel and silver-plated brass frame and fitted with smooth two-piece rosewood grips numbered to the gun. The top of the barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD, MASS" and the cylinder is marked "PATENTED APRIL 3, 1855, JUNE 15, 1858". The 6th Type featured the final change on the Model No 1, 1st Issue revolvers, that being the elimination of rotating plate and ratchet which were made as part of the cylinder.

Condition: Fair. The barrel is now a mottled brown patina exhibiting some scattered pin prick type pitting and some overall spotting. The frame has been polished to an even overall bright patina. The grips are fair. The left grip stock has a small hairline crack running the length, otherwise only some minor pressure marks and some varnish loss. Mechanically sound.
