American made large frame stainless steel double-action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum. The Model 629-1 was introduced in 1982, and manufacture in Springfield, MA. This 629-1 was distributed by Lew Horton and S&W, and only 8,000 were made between 1986-1987. Featuring a brushed stainless steel finish, 3" barrel with partial serrated sighting rib, shrouded ejector rod, 3/4 length underlug, raised serrated ramped front sight with orange insert, adjustable micrometer notched rear sight with white outline, fluted six-shot cylinder, smooth wide curved stainless trigger, firing pin on hammer nose, stainless hammer, checkered hammer spur, ten-groove serrated grip straps, smooth finger grooved wood combat grips with gold-colored S&W medallions, and three screw round butt 'N' target frame. Original stainless finish retained is approximately 98% with superficial scratches, and a light drag line on the cylinder. Metal displays no rust or deformation, but the cylinder sticks when attempting to open it. Wood grips are in excellent condition. Bore is bright with strong rifling, and the cylinder chambers are also very good, but need a cleaning. Action functions soundly with a tight lock-up. Pistol would be excellent if the cylinder did not stick when opening.
Condition is NRA Very Good to Excellent.
