Smith & Wesson Model 3, Third Model Russian Single Action Revolver with Ivory Grips

Identical to American Models except for the barrel address and chambered for the 44 S&W Russian rather than the 44 American. Smith & Wesson manufactured a total of 60,638 3rd Model Russians between 1874 and 1878. The Third Model Russian was manufactured with a 6 1/2 inch barrel. Integral blade front sight with notched rear sight on barrel latch. The butt is marked with a "SH" or "HS" in a diamond over the serial number. Matching assembly number "4637" on the cylinder, barrel and barrel latch. The top of the rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD. MASS. U.S.A. PAT. JULY 10.60. JAN. 17. FEB. 17. JULY. 11 65 & AUG. 24. 69. RUSSIAN MODEL". There is a crude punch dot "Po" on the right side of the frame. Fitted with smooth ivory grips.

Good. The revolver retains 50% original nickel finish with gray patina showing some scattered pitting on the balance. The grips are also good with some minor age cracks on the bottom and a dark caramel patina. A small portion of the barrel address is unreadable, otherwise it is clear. There is some play in the cylinder, otherwise the action functions well.
