Smith & Wesson Model 1 second issue spur trigger revolver, .22 cal., 3-1/4” barrel, silver finish, rosewood grips, #75547. This gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 85% silver finish on the frame and approx. 85% original blueon the cylinder with traces of original blue in protected areas of barrel assembly with the balance gone to a pleasing brown patina, good bore, action and markings. Back strap inscribed “J. H. Bronson”. Consignor's estate has included a soldier history from the Civil War Research and Genealogy Database (civilwardata.com) indicating that a James H Bronson of Co. D, US CT 5th infantry received the congressional medal of honor for gallantry at Chapin's farm, Virginia duringbattle on Sept. 29, 1864. Although no other documentation ties this inscribed gun to Bronson and the age of the inscription appears more recent. Est.: $250-$500.
