'Second Model' British military large frame double action service revolver chambered for the .455 Mark II cartridge. Produced in America by Smith & Wesson circa 1915-1917. Features a blued finish, 6 1/2" pinned barrel, non-shrouded ejector rod, forged round blade front sight, 'u' notched rear sight, fluted six-shot cylinder measuring 1.587" in length, smooth .265" trigger, .265" hammer with knurled spur, 5 screw square butt N frame and two-piece diamond checkered walnut grips with silver S&W medallions. Serial numbers on the frame, barrel & cylinder are all matching but the right grip panel bears the number 182905. Marked with standard Smith & Wesson stamps, military proofs, Birmingham proofs and a small "NOT ENGLISH MADE" stamp. Revolver exhibits approximately 80% of it's original polished blued finish showing scattered wear. The action is smooth with very good lock-up, bore shows light pin prick pitting throughout but retains good luster, markings are crisp and the wood grips are fair.
