Early and important Smith & Wesson No. 2 lever action pistol chambered in .41 Volcanic. Features an 8" part octagonal, part round barrel designed for the .41 caliber Volcanic cartridge. The barrel roll mark reads “SMITH & WESSON / NORWICH, CT. PATENT / CAST STEEL.” The barrel shows minor exterior pitting with some remaining shine, mostly turned brown. The plated frame retains detailed factory floral engraving in outstanding condition for its age, including engraving on the rear of the spur hammer. There is a chip at the aft corner of the left rosewood grip and minor thinning at the midsection of the grip frame. The action functions and likely has a replacement loading tube spring. Early serial number 124 is marked on the frame beneath the grips and on the aft face of the rear sight. Very rare example. | Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson | Model: Volcanic Navy Pistol No. 2 | Serial #: 124 | Type: Pistol | Caliber/Gauge: .41 Volcanic | Barrel Length: 8" | Condition/Grade: Good, Approximately 60%
