Smith & Wesson First Model Hand Ejector or "Triple Lock" revolver, .44 special caliber, 7-1/2" barrel, target series with special factory zero prefix and marked on in-strap "Club Pistol". This revolver, serial #096,was delivered to Mr. Frank Wakefield, Springfield Mass. November 21st, 1906. Factory letter confirms features and checkered walnut stocks. The letter further mentions a group of 12 revolvers speciallymade for competitive shooters and that Mr. Frank Wakefield was one of the top Springfield Rifle Club competitive shooters and a copy of a photo of him in 1914/15 is included with the letter. This revolver wentfrom Wakefield to Mahlon Frank, President of the California Revolver Association in the 1930's, who himself was a top competitive shooter and was an alternate at the L.A. Olympics in 1932. A letter from himdiscussing this revolver in the 1940's when it was given to his wife and daughter is included on his stationary from The Sportsman Shop in Pasadena, which he owned.
