Manufactured from 1907 to 1915, this is an original unaltered Smith and Wesson First Model 44 Hand Ejector with the very desirable "Triple Lock" mechanism. The top of the barrel is marked with the three line address and patent markings, with "44 S&W SPECIAL CTG." marked on the left side and correctly no markings on the right side. It has the standard "S&W" trade mark logo on the right side plate. The early features are the five screw frame, the shrouded ejector housing, the smooth grip straps, square butt, thin trigger with the smooth face, fixed round blade front sight, and of course the "Triple Lock " mechanism. It has matching serial numbers on the back of the cylinder, inside the barrel shroud and the bottom of the butt. The crane and frame cutout are also both matching "8490" assembly numbers.
