Smith & Wesson D.A. First Model Revolver. 6" barrel is chambered for 44-40 winchester (rare) and has a good bore with some very minor pitting in the grooves. The top of the barrel is marked, "Smith &Wesson Springfield Mass. USA Pat'd Jan 17 & 24 65" over "July 11, 65 Aug 24, 69. July 25, 71 Dec 2, 79 May 11 & 25, 1880" and the left side is marked, "44 Winchester Ctg." This is a nickel plated revolver with about 93-95% finish. The blued trigger guard and topstrap lock are 95% with some freckling. The hammer still retains some case colors. The hard rubber grips are excellent with a little wear at the bottom of the right grip. Serial number is 14,092, making this a late production 44-40.
