Smith & Wesson Baby Russian, .38 caliber Single Action Revolver with 4” barrel, nickel plated, hard rubber grips, in original cardboard box, serial #20375. The pistol shows 95-97% original nickel plate that is uncleaned or polished with just some small areas of erosion and pinprick pitting starting where nickel has lifted. The cylinder has a slight index line, the hammer shows 75-85% case hardening. The grips are fine to near excellent with just slight drifting to patina. The latch shows most of its original blue, as does the ejector and small parts. The action is crisp, the interior near excellent with bright bore. The butt shows the painted number KM656 indicating ownership by noted old-time collector Karl Moldenauer. The pistol is contained within its original to the period green colored cardboard box with full original label. One end flap to the top lid is missing, opening at one corner, some staining, small losses, but generally the box is very good and label is fully intact with just some staining. The picture on the top of the box clearly shows a Baby Russian and this is a correct box. Karl Moldenauer was primarily a Remington collector however he also actively collected early cartridge arms in their original boxes. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
