Smith & Wesson .38 Safety Hammerless Model DA revolver, U.S. marked on the left side of the barrel assembly at the lug, .38 S&W cal., 6” barrel, re-blued finish, checkered black hard rubber grips, #41380, all matchingvisible numbers including the barrel assembly. This gun is in overall good condition as refinished with a good action, good markings, good bore and good grips showing wear and a couple mars. Smith &Wesson accounts show 100 .38 Safety Hammerless Army Test revolvers were sold to the U.S. Government in May 1890 in the serial range of 41,333-41,470 and they were blue finished with 6” barrels. No furtherdocumentation provided by the estate of this consignor, but in our opinion, the gun appears correct; should be factory lettered however to verify. From the Dr. John Hall Collection.
