Smith & Wesson 2nd model Russian .44 caliber revolver, nickel plated, inscribed Lone Star Harry, serial #84616. With a pair of fancy boot covers showing Lone Star. Letter addressed to Robert Ables, New York City, December 17th (No year) mentions in summary, ‘This Smith & Wesson .44 caliber pistol was used by Lone Star Harry in his early Wild West shows’. He mentions he shot glass balls and worked with Pawnee Bill for two seasons, but mostly had his own act. His stationary describes himself as “Americas Representative Scout” and “Champion Revolver Manipulator of the World”. Also an autographed photograph of him, and the stationary is signed “Lonestar H”. A copy of a dime-store novel describes the life of Lone Star Harry in glowing terms. He was a cowboy at the age of 14, working for several Texas cattle outfits which included the C. C. and The 63. He worked as a scout, and a guard in the Cherokee strip. He began working in Wild West shows in the 1890’s, and he was described as a brilliant orator and a manipulator of six-shooters without a peer. The revolver shows most of an old renickel finish which is beginning to peel and areas where nickel has peeled have
