Smith & Wesson 1st model 2nd issue, .22 caliber 7-shot revolver, blue and silver finish, rosewood grips, serial #60901. In original early cardboard box. Along with discharge papers of Alvah Camp, Private 7thRegiment Illinois Infantry, discharged at Louisville, KY. Includes factory letter indicating sale to J. W. Storrs, New York. Verifying sale of January 25th, 1865. Signed by Roy Jinks, Historian, who attests theoriginal cardboard box is rare. This pistol recently sold from the family of the original owner, who was said to have carried it during the Civil War. Pistol remains in near fine original condition with some drifting to the finish on the barrel, minor losses, and 80-90% finish with some beginning erosion. Frame shows nearly 100% of its original silver. Grips are near excellent with some slight edge wear and some minor nicks. Thebox is good for its age with normal tatters, slight opening at the edges, and no labels or markings, but a correct early box for this model in our opinion. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
