Smith & Wesson 1st Model American single action revolver in .44 S&W caliber in fine to excellent condition, nickel plated with period ivory grips. The revolver shows 90% to 95% of a factory nickel plated finish with a slight area of peeling by the muzzle and some pitting just starting. The nickel is aging slightly with minor losses and scratches. The barrel address is razor-sharp and the edges are very crisp. The hammer andtrigger guard show 50% to 70% case hardening and the release latch and ejector latch show considerable original blue finish. There is a star on the bottom of the ejector rod housing which may indicate a return to thefactory and the serial number on the butt and cylinder have been punched out. There is a number 811 on the frame beneath the left grip and the ivory grips are in near fine condition also they fit impeccably. Theejector shows most of its original blue and the bore is very good plus and may clean to excellent. A sharp, crisp and good-looking American that may have been factory refinished but shows no evidence of polishing
