SN: 129191 WWI era U.S. military large frame double action service revolver chambered in .45 Automatic, manufactured circa 1918. Features a blued finish, pinned 5 1/2" barrel, round blade front sight, 'u' notched rear sight, non-shrouded ejector rod, fluted six-shot cylinder, smooth .265" trigger, .265" hammer with knurled spur, five screw square butt N frame with lanyard ring on the butt and two-piece smooth walnut grips. All observed serial numbers are matching though the grips are unnumbered. Military marks: Barrel - "United States Property" and [Eagle Head]/"S2". Frame - [Flaming Bomb], [Eagle Head]/"S2", [Eagle Head]/"S6", "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917" & "No/129/191". Cylinder - [Eagle Head]/"S24". Revolver exhibits approximately 15% of it's blued finish which is primarily retained in the protected areas with the balance of the metal surfaces displaying an aging brown patina with some scattered pin prick pitting. Action is smooth with good lock-up, the chambers are dirty, the bore is bright with good rifling & scattered light pin prick pitting, markings are good and the wood grips are good with rounded edges & are slightly shrunken.
