<B>Small Portion of Apollo 11 Flown "Kapton Foil" from Buzz Aldrin's Personal Collection.</B></I> Measures approximately 3" x 2.5". A small piece of delicate foil, known as kapton foil, from the Apollo 11 Command Module <I>Columbia.</B></I> This foil lined the outer wall of the command module and played the critical role of reflecting the sun's intense heat away from <I>Columbia</B></I> as it re-entered earth's atmosphere. Due to its fragile nature, most of the foil burned off the ship, but small pieces survived and were salvaged. This piece actually flew to the moon and back as a part of the legendary Apollo 11 mission.
