Slotter and Company Silver Banded Peanut-Size Deringer Pocket Pistol with Curry Brothers (San Fran

Estimate: $1000 - 2000
Though bearing several Deringer markings, the profile of the forearm and butt suggests this is actually the product of the Schlotterbeck brothers of Slotter & Company, made from 1860 to 1863 when a lawsuit from Deringer forced them to discontinue the markings. Silver finished brass blade front and notch rear sights, with "DERINGER/PHILADELA" and "P" on the silver band-flanked breechplug, scroll designs along the upper sides of the barrel and possibly spurious "N.CURRY & BRo/SAN FRANCo CALa/AGENTS" on top. The Deringer address is repeated on the scroll engraved lock, with scrollwork on the hammer, tang, accent plate, reverse plate, trigger guard and inscription shield, floral designs on the escutcheons, a pineapple finial and a smooth triangular tip insert. Checkered stock, with a Schnabel tip and checkered birds head butt.
