Slab w/12 Near Complete Larval Amphibians
<Our item number 111417>Museum Quality Slab with 12 Near Complete Larval Amphibians. This very rare 23x18.5 inch slab is covered with 12 complete and near complete 2.5-3.5 inch long larval amphibians known as Branchiosaurus petroleii over 260 million years old from Southernwestern, Germany. Branchiosaurus was the larval stage of much larger semi-aquatic amphibian. Eryops may be the mother of these small amphibians. Eryops grew to over 6 feet long with a sturdy body, huge head filled with sharp teeth and sturdy short limbs. What makes this dispaly so extraordinary is the minute detail preserved on the amphibians, including sharp little teeth, skin texture, excellent skulld, and tiny limb bones and claws. Skin almost never fossilizes being soft tissue. It takes a very special fossilization event to prevent bacteria from destroying the soft parts of any animal. The skin in the these amphibians is in the form of black carbon impressions which shows the body shape and even the minute skin pattern on the bes t preserved specimens. This superb specimen comes from an old time collection and is very rare as the collection site has been destroyed and is lost to further collecting.

Add $65 for domestic shipping.
Estimated Value $2,600-3,500.

Our item number 111417
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
