This is a Sioux Native American Indian war club with a beaded Indian hide covered handle and rare Steatite stone head. The piece is from early 1900 and shows overall good well preserved condition. Very rare to have a Steatite hand carved stone war club head and with such a unique geometric shape. The club has 19th century glass trade seed beads work in chalk white, Cheyenne pink, dark purple, and translucent green. The weapons head is Indian tanned hide wrapped to the stem handle in such a way that it is lose to be used much like the skull cracker war clubs. Steatite early head measures 2 1/8"x6 3/8" and 3/4" thick. Club overall is 25.5"L with an additional 8" fringe and red ocher dyed Buffalo hair drop at the end.
