<B>Sioux Pipe Bowl and Stem</B></I><BR>Circa 1875 <BR>Length 27 1/4 in.<BR><BR>The ash wood stem is decorated with finely plaited porcupine quillwork in red dyed quills. A simple design pattern has been created on the upper side as the black and yellow quills cross over and under the two thread red quill bands in alternating rows. A tuft of dyed red horsehair decorates the underside. The stem is fitted to a catlinite "T" shaped bowl with extensive lead inlay set in a pattern of diagonal stripes and small squares.<BR><BR>Provenance<BR>Collected by Milford Chandler before 1926.
