This is a commercially tanned deer hide depicting a battle scene. A Sioux ledger for commercial trade. Two Indians with bows have been killed by the rifle while two Indians on horseback with shields would survive the battle. The antelope in the lower corner symbolizes speed and sovereignty with the spirit world. Signed by "Zig" lower right corner. Attributed to Zig Jackson (Mandan/Hidatsa/Arikara) b.1957. Roughly 36 in.
