Sioux Knife Blade War Club. Two forged iron knife blades inset into a 44.5" chestnut wood haft. Brass tack designs & hot file branding. Rare! A letter of authenticity from expert & author, John Baldwin, is included. Circa 1880s-1890s. Knife blade war clubs are one of the rarest types of American Indian weapons & are a unique variation of the gunstock war club design. They were only known to have been used by the eastern Sioux tribes. This example has a smooth, mellow patina & is an excellent, museum grade example. Pictured in The Mark Francis Collection of American Indian Art (2009), page 36, figure 56.
