Sioux Indian print by Amos Bad Heart Buffalo; a lithograph series published by C. Swedzicki in 1938, edition 362/400. Entitled, "Smoothing the Place Dance," Plate 22. Warriors, dismounted, encircle a dancing court surrounded by greenery. An dismounted Medicine Man, carrying a scalp suspended from a stick, precedes the entry of mounted warriors into the circle. In this ceremony, the mounted warriors are being celebrated for having rescued their comrades while under fire. 15 ¼ inches (length) x 19 ¼ inches (width)
