The piece is from the Sioux Native American Indians and features a gunstock war club with a unique and immensely rare spontoon shaped blade. The gun stock war club shows excellent accented designs on both sides using iron harness tacks with a fantastic arrow pointing down the shaft and a Mountain or Tepee figure across the center. The war club or warriors club has a blade with the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) Colonial American Spontoon blade shape (the hand forged spike head was used during the Revolutionary War by the Americans in trench defense against charging British infantry or cavalry). The spontoon blade is on the early American or Revolutionary War era 18th to early 19th century rifle stock handle. The piece is from circa early to mid 1800 and shows excellent quality carving and good museum condition. From a private large Native American collection in Kentucky. Measures 28”L x 17”W with a 7.5”L x 2.5”W blacksmith forged spontoon.
