This is a wonderful gunstock & spontoon war club from the Sioux Native American Indians. The piece features a gunstock wood frame with brass tacks accenting both sides and has a Revolutionary War (1775-1783) Colonial American Spontoon style blade (the hand forged spike spontoon head was used during the Revolutionary War by the Americans in trench defense against charging British infantry or cavalry). The blade is held into place with lead or pewter and has a unique design. The rifle or gun stock carved handle shows file burns across the base and a burned and painted tepee and dot design across the top. The piece is from the 19th century (1800-1850) and shows an overall well preserved museum quality condition. The piece is from a private collection in Canada. Measures overall 28.75”L x 14.5”W with a 6 3/8”L x 1 7/8”W blade.
