Sioux Fully Beaded Vest circa 1890
This is an exceptional fully beaded vest from the Sioux Native American Indians dating to circa 1890's. The vest shows a heavy trade canvas construction with saddle harness leather supports and an Indian tanned hide inside lining with a quilted embroidered stitch. The vest shows a chalk white glass trade seed beaded background with tepee arrow alternating red and dark blue glass trade beaded border. The front shows the "Whirling Logs" symbol being pierced by an arrow that stretches from the back on each shoulder and two geometric symbols showing greasy yellow, dark blue, semi-transparent dark green, and red glass trade seed beads. The back shows the matching geometric symbol from the front in a larger size with the fletching of the arrows from the front stretching over the shoulders. The piece shows a very heavy quality crafted construction with little to no bead loss and fine condition. This is one of the finest fully beaded vest we have offered for sale. Provenance: From a large Early American and Native American Weapons private collection in Iowa. Measures overall "H x "W.
