This is an exceptional original authentic Sioux Native American Indian fully beaded saddle bag from the second of the 20th century. The early Sioux piece is from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and is truly an excellent piece. The saddle bag shows all early glass trade seed beadwork with a chalk white background having a central cross like motif in dark red, semi-transparent dark green, and corn yellow with matching patterns doubled on either side. The top of the bag shows later added Buffalo Nickel like buttons with the matching powerful pattern, early tin jingle cones having red ocher mineral dyed Buffalo Fur and medicine bones. All four outside edges show a tepee, arrowhead, or animal track pictorial symbol radiating from the center. The bag has been constructed of Indian tanned hide with an early cloth overlay and sinew/thread sewn with little bead loss. The piece is truly an excellently crafted bag and would be the center of any collection. Originally priced at over $5,750.00. Measures overall 11” x 14” x 3.5”. Condition: Well preserved good condition with only slight bead loss on corners as shown and overall an exceptional piece.
