The lot features a fully beaded parade saddle from the Sioux Native American Indians that dates to circa 1950’s to 1960’s. This is a well-made saddle showing a tanned leather in a blonde coloring wrapped over the saddle with every portion of the piece being adorned with beadwork in a geometric and horse effigy pattern. The beadwork is done with all glass trade seed / pony beads showing a chalk white background with borders in sky padre blue, corn yellow, medium green, and red; central geometric stepped pattern in orange, sky padre blue, corn yellow, medium green and horse tracks in red; and horse effigy figure head with neck shapes in red on one side and yellow on the other being further accented by black, sky padre blue, corn yellow and green and orange. The saddle has several hand etched / worked silver colored conchos with leather fringes along with a very clean seat and nearly perfect sheep wool lining at the bottom. The saddle Is in very good condition with no apparent bead loss and appears to have not been used but maybe once or twice. The piece arrived from the Hungry Horse, Montana American Indian collection with an old collection / gallery tag which stated, “’01 $4,200 1950’s Vintage Sioux Beaded Parade Saddle – 39-X”. The beadwork is also shown across the fenders and stirrups, a wonderful and rare addition. The saddle is matched to the next two lots but sells separately; the martingale and headstall.
