The lot features an original Sioux Native American Indian fully beaded awl case dating to the late 19th Century. The piece shows an Indian tanned hide construction with exceptional glass trade seed petit beads in a linear geometric design. The all period correct beadwork shows such colors as chalk white, greasy yellow and semi-transparent translucent Cheyenne pink. At the ends of the long four pieces of fully beaded fringe each shows petit rolled tin jingle cones. The piece shows the original top tie strap and has a wooden dowl inserted to keep its shape. The piece overall is in good to fair condition with little bead loss, one piece of fringe has had the bead loss drop from the piece, but the strand of beads are still attached as shown. Provenance: From a large Native American weapons and beadwork collection in Great Falls, Montana. The piece measures overall 15”L with an additional 6” at the top for the strap.
