This is a rare original Sioux Native American Indian dress showing Cowrie Shell beads. The dress is from circa 1870-1880's and is from the King Saddlery Otto Ernst Collection. The dress shows a very early wool velvet fabric with lace fringe and a yellow English Ribbon (hallmarked with Lion and Unicorn with a crown in the center). This was purchased from the King Saddlery Museum in Sheridan, Wyoming where the Ernst Family had the collection displayed.. The pieces were original collected and sold by Otto F. Ernst in the 19th century. Otto Ernst was a renowned Saddle Maker and would purchase Native American items to sell in his Saddle shop and Catalog. Otto Ernst Saddlery Sheridan, Wyoming.
