The lot features a solid catalinite pipestone carved pipe stem from the Sioux Native American Indians of the Plains, dating to circa 1890-1900’s. The solid red pipestone catlinite is a long tapering pipe stem with angular carvings and an octagonal bowl connection flowing into beveled cut edges, a truly intricate design. The pipe stone has rich deep red to speckled pink coloring with a nice patina. The pipe bowl connection has a wood dowl. Provenance: From a private collection of early American and Native American antiquities in Iowa. Measures overall 10.75” L by approximately 1.25”at its widest.
