The lot features a unique item, a Great American Bison Buffalo horn dance rattle attributed to the Sioux Indians. The piece shows two polished black Buffalo horns, which are hollow and filled with presumable rocks, beads or pebbles making this a rattle. The dance club is in the style of a Medicine Man's piece which were used during ceremonies. The haft shows a wood carved tappering design which is covered in parfleche rawhide which is sinew sewn and covered in a mineral pigment ocher dye. The end of the club shows a drop of White horse tail hair which is sinew wrapped and shows a brass and hair pipe set of beads. The top of the club shows the haft protruding past the head with a drop of dyed horse hair dangling from a pierced hole, also adorned with brass and bone hair pipe beads. The piece is from a large Kansas Collection and displays well. Measures overall 32"L x 12"W x 3.5"D.
