This is an exceptional and important Sioux Native American Indian pipe tomahawk from a Miles City, Montana Collection. The piece is from circa 1860-1870’s and was believed to be recovered from the Eastern Montana area near the Battle of the Little Bighorn Battlefield and Miles City, Montana. The piece has been in the private Miles City, Montana collection for over half a decade. The piece shows an excellent brass pipe tomahawk head showing very well preserved condition. The tomahawk has an Indian tanned fringe hide drop near the head and is on a carved wood haft or stem. This is thought to be one of the finest Montana recovered pipe tomahawks made available for private sale. Very unusual and exceedingly rare solid brass bronze pipe tomahawk head. The authentic piece shows wonderful museum quality condition and displays fantastically. Measures overall 21 3/8”L with a 8 1/8”L x 2 7/8”W x 1.25”D tomahawk head. The bowl has a 5/8” opening and is 1.5” deep.
