The lot features an exceptional Dag Knife from the Sioux Native American Indian tribe. The Dag Knife features a walnut handle adorned with brass trade tacks. This stunning piece is crafted from a Blacksmith’s rasp. A closer look at the blade shows the original rasp teeth pattern pounded or filed down. These forged rasp file dag knife blades showed extraordinary strength. These polished down rasp files have been referred to as being of the appearance of scales or more commonly explained as having the texture and shape of a beaver tail. This beaver tail texture and shape has lent to the collecting term as being called a “Beaver Back” Dag Knife. Measures 16" x 3".
