This is a wonderfully beaded knife sheath and rare 19th Century Snake Brand Sheffield Bowie trade knife from the Sioux Native American Indians. The knife is marked, "Snake Brand Sheffield" with the underlined snake brand and shows a riveted wood handle (excellent scarce large size, being 12 7/8"L with a 8.25"L blade that is 1.75"W). The early sheath shows an Indian tanned hide construction with excellent beadwork in all 19th century glass trade seed beads including chalk white, black, semi-transparent rose, greasy yellow, medium green. The sheath also has a fancy beaded edge and various tin jingle cones. Sheath is (with top strap and fringe) 23.5"L x 3.5"W.
