Sioux Beaded Sheath 20th C. & 19th C. Trade Knife
The lot features a mid-to-late 20th Century beaded sheath from the Sioux Indians paired with an old late 19th Century Indian Trade Knife. The knife features a Buffalo Skinner pattern with sharp blade having a nice dark coloring and is paired with a two piece walnut grip with copper rivets. The sheath is comprised of tanned hide leather over harness saddle leather and is covered in glass beadwork in a geometric pattern further accented by fringe along the top and bottom. The bottom fringe have four jingle cones which are comprised of brass shell casings, three W-W (Winchester Western) Winchester .38-40 cases and one W-W (Winchester Western) Super .44 Remington Magnum case. The fringes extended at the top center around to the back side. The piece was likely made for use at a ceremony, powwow or rendezvous. The sheath measures 20"L with fringes by approx. 6"W. The knife is 11 3/8"L with a 6 7/8"L blade.
