This is an exceptional rare 19th Century Sioux Native American Indian bowcase and arrow quiver in a scarce Mountain Lion hide construction with excellent beadwork. The bow and arrow quiver dates to circa 1870-1880 and is truly a rare piece. The piece shows all Mountain Lion fur hide construction with sinew sewing and excellent traditional geometric period correct 1800’s glass trade seed and petit beads. The beadwork shows chalk white, greasy yellow and cobalt. The piece shows a hide with fur shoulder strap with large arrow quiver having a beaded border at the opening accented by long Indian tanned hide fringe and beaded border at the end with Mountain Lion fur fringe. The piece also shows a bow quiver with the same artful beadwork and fringe. At the base of the piece shows two drops of fur hide with old red trade clothe having nice beadwork and Indian tanned fringe. The beadwork and construction are both sinew sewn, a true attribute of the pieces early age. The piece shows a very well preserved fine condition with little to no bead loss. Provenance: From a large South Dakota American Indian Estate and was said to be from a Sioux Arikara scout dating to the American Indian Wars era.
