This Sino Tibetan carpet comes from a monk and was made of polychrome wool. On the yellow ground five dragon representations are visible, which are surrounded by stylized cloud ornaments on the edge. The dragon is in East Asia a symbol of power and strength and with five claws also the symbol of the Emperor. The edge of the carpet is decorated with different colored strips, which frame the motives in the center.
The carpet is in good condition with traces of age and wear. The fringes of the edge are thinned out and loose threads can be seen here and there. The carpet has a dimension of 80 x 77 cm. (lvp)
