The smaller one is a relatively rough casting in pinkish native gold, in which the surface forms are somewhat blurred. The headdress arcs to either side from a central wedge-shaped element, curling back to touch the ear areas. Its outer rims are edged with fine incised parallel lines. The figure has braided head and waist bands and a necklace of rectangular elements. Two downward-turned leaf-like forms are on either side of the elongated body, which ends in a bifurcated tip. A small globular casting fault extends from the proper right tip of the headdress. The condition is excellent.
The other shaman figure has two leaf-like forms at either side of the elongated body, which is crossed by horizontal bands above and below the lower pair of leaf forms. An imperfectly-cast arrow completes the lower tip. The points at the outer ends of the arced double headdress end in profile zoomorph heads. An upward-pointing arrow is at the top center, rising from a braided headband. Spiral ear ornaments and a complex necklace complete the attire. Other than several original casting faults, the condition is excellent.

The lot is sold with a statement of authenticity from the distinguished expert Robert Sonin.

Provenance
David Bernstein, New York
