American engineer (1866–1945) who developed the first submarine to operate successfully on the open seas. DS, one page, 10.75 x 8.25, March 20, 1916. Stock certificate for ten shares of the Lake Torpedo Boat Company, signed at the conclusion by Lake. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature, scattered creases, a few tack holes to the left side, and a pencil notation to the upper right.
