Charlie was known as the Master Carver and elder of the Cowichan Tribe of the Coast Salish First Nation. In his career it is estimated that he carved the equivalent of 22 logging truckloads of cedar logs. His totem poles can be found in the collections of the Royal BC Museum and the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa.
