Lincoln's controversial first secretary of war (1799-1889). ALS, one page, 7.75 x 9.75, December 23, 1857. Letter to Simon Stevens of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in full: "I have been too unwell to write for some days—and am still in no condition to do anything well, but if these letters are not enough, tell me and you shall have more." Second integral pages bears a typed transcription, and the reverse is addressed in Cameron's own hand. In fine condition, with multiple intersecting folds.
