Simon Cameron Autograph Letter Signed “Simon Cameron”. One page, 7.5” x 9.75”, June 16, 1852, to “Col. Frazer”, toned with the usual fold creases, some ink smears, else very good. A letter with strong Pennsylvania political content. Cameron writes in part: “I am right glad to hear of your complete triumph, I heard on Friday what was going on, & from my knowledge of Buchanan’s character, was certain you would triumph. He made his dying effort for the nomination and he will now sink. All his todies sic will drop off, or be dropped..” Cameron served as Abraham Lincoln’s first Secretary of War but was forced from the position of Secretary of War under a cloud of corruption. Ex.
