Silver seal of Mehta Sahmal, 40.24g, a courtier of Dungar Singh, ruler of Bikaner (1872-1887), dated 1872AD in Farsi numerals and with inscriptions in two languages – 1. Farsi in centre: ????? ????????? ???? ??????? ????? ??? ?????? ?????? ????? ??? ????? ???? ?? ????? (Mehta Sahmal 1872 Bandah-i Maharajadhiraj Rajarajesar Narindra Shiroman Shri Dongar Singh Jee Bahadur). 2. Devanagari around from 12 o’clock: ????????????? ??????????? ??????? ??????? ???? ????? ?????? ?????? ???? ????? ?????? (Maharajadhiraj Rajrajeshwar Narendra Shiromani Shri Dungar Simha jee Bahadur Bande Mehta Sahamal). Dungar Singh of Bikaner was crowned in 1872, which is the same date as one seen on this seal. Most likely therefore, the seal was prepared for Mehta Sahamal for or soon after this occasion. Very Fine+, Rare.
